Billy Richard, a successful business leader dedicated to assisting the under served and disadvantaged population, is the Chief Executive Officer for one of the most innovative programs in Los Angeles County providing services to persons with developmental disabilities. Giant Steps Training Programs, Inc. serves five (5) of the Department of the 21 Developmental Services Regional Centers in California.
The program has expanded from a single service provider to include Independent Living Skills, Community Integration Day Program, Transportation Services, Supported Living Services, Assistance for At-Risk Individuals, Vocational Support Services and an Employment Program.
In addition, in 2002 Giant Steps was recognized in the industry for its use of technology in serving the needs of the disabled population. In 2007, Giant Steps was also selected for a Work Program Opportunity Grant to develop an Employment Program, enabling the disabled to operate their own micro-enterprise.
Recently, Billy has further expanded his programs to include a job training program including vending machines, automotive restoration, and retail. As a dedicated community leader for over 20 years, Billy has volunteeredhis time and resources, including coaching for Special Olympics, and is an annual sponsor of the athletics department at John Muir High School in Pasadena.
